Past Planning: Former NE Railway Offices, Station Rise

New N.E.R buidling, York
This scheme proposed the conversion of the former offices of the North Eastern Railway to an hotel. The building dates from 1906 and is listed as Grade II*. Any scheme affecting a building of this quality must pay particular attention to detail, and the proposals on which the York Civic Trust was asked to comment, in March 2008, was an exemplar for its detail and quality. The layout of the building lent itself to use as an hotel and the sensitive approach to the proposed alterations was commended. The scheme was subsequently approved.  The five star hotel is now open.
