Following the repair works carried out on the Price’s Lane gate at Murton park in late September, blacksmith Dave Barnes began stripping down the flaking, outermost paint coating, ready to apply the red oxide primer which would protect the metal frame of the gate. During the process, it was discovered that the original decorative coating of the gate was actually a deep sea green colour, hidden away under the additional protective coatings!

The gate is scheduled to be completely restored and re-hung within the next 2 weeks, ready to withstand the harsh North Yorkshire winter months!
