This is a unique opportunity to hear from Nestle, the City’s largest private employer.

York is home to a major production and research site of one of the world’s biggest multi-national companies. Nestle is also the largest private employer in our city.

We are surrounded by the legacy of Nestle’s predecessor, and this sometimes distracts from the contribution that Nestle makes to the local economy today.

At a time when multi-nationals are so much under the microscope Peter Clinker, Estates and Facilities Manager of Nestle UK will talk both on the company’s achievements and some of the challenges that a leading confectionery production, marketing and research centre faces in today’s world.

The talk will take place 7 November at the Friargate Meeting House. Tickets can be bought at the Events webpage.

The post Nestle Today Lecture – event now open to the public first appeared on York Civic Trust.

Free buses in
the city centre; an under 25 public transport card; a fuller network of cycle
routes; promoting ebikes …

Many more
suggestions like these have now come from those who have completed York Civic
Trust’s transport survey.

The survey, designed to find out what residents and commuters think are the key issues in York and how to tackle them, will run until the end of today, 30th September, so you have a limited time in which to contribute.

You can take part in the survey by visiting: https://surveys.qaresearch.co.uk/YorkTransportResidents.asp

Commuters into York can take part in a specific survey which can be found at: https://surveys.qaresearch.co.uk/YorkTransportCommuters.asp

The
responses to the survey will feed into the Council’s new Local Transport Plan, work
on which is expected to be started next year.

A Citizens’
Transport Forum, drawn from those who complete the survey, will be established
to discuss and review the implications of the responses, and to work with the
Council as it develops its Plan.

Professor
Tony May, Chair of the Trust’s dedicated Transport Advisory Group, commented: “We
are delighted to have had so many ideas already for the future of transport in
York. We would like to see as many
people as possible take part in the survey so we can get a wide range of
feedback on transport issues facing everyone who lives and works in the City.

“Transport
is one of the key challenges, and opportunities, for York in the future and we so
if you have ideas to offer, or don’t agree with those which we have received to
date, do please complete the survey.”

This
consultation is funded by York Civic Trust, The National Lottery Community
Fund, the Rees Jeffreys Road Fund, York Environment Forum, York Bus Forum and
York BID.

The post Last day to contribute to York Civic Trust’s transportation survey! first appeared on York Civic Trust.
