HERBERT HOUSE TOUR 1 – 21 MAY – 2PM

May 21 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

£10

This fine medieval house was the first restoration of a building at risk, by JB and Cuthbert Morrell in 1946.

Today, the York Conservation Trust, founded by the brothers, is carrying out a major refurbishment of the building and members of the Civic Trust have privileged access to see the whole of the building before the work commences.

The 1 hour hard hat tours are led by Guy Bower, the Conservation architect in charge of the project.  The building has an illustrious history, Sir Thomas Herbert was born there in 1606, but in 1639, the then occupant, Roger Jaques, entertained Charles I when in York.
