The historic flood marker in Tower Gardens has received restorative work by York Civic Trust to improve its appearance. The marker had been faded for sometime and as part of our City Enhancement Programme is now clean and bright. The marker shows the water level reached by various floods from the 20th and 21st centuries. If climate change continues, there may be many more to add over the coming decades! The infamous Christmas 2015 flood level has not yet been recorded.

Managed by York Civic Trust’s Nick Beilby, the work was carried out by Rook Heritage Consulting and the Trust thanks all partners in this successful restoration project.
