The City Enhancement programme oversaw conservation work to the eighty year old drinking fountain on Acomb Green in April 2018.

Restored drinking fountain, funded by City Enhancement.

The fountain was installed in celebration of George V’s Silver Jubilee in 1935. The fountain was restored to a coat of green found during archaeological investigations to many other metal structures in the city such as gates and railings. It was not possible to re-connect the water supply as part of the project.

The works were carried out by Kevin Spencer and managed by Nicholas Beilby, working as Project Manager on behalf of York Civic Trust.
