The City Enhancement Programme funded the restoration of a Victorian water trough on Lawrence Street, York in Spring 2017. The trough is a Grade II listed structure and was donated to the city by the RSPCA for the city’s horses in the late nineteenth century.

Analysis found that the original coat of paint on this was a shade of green that has typically been found on other iron structures such as railings across York. The trough, situated near St Lawrence Church, was therefore restored to its original colour.
