Patrick Shepherd OBE
Born in 1955, he attended school in York and trained as a mechanical engineer.
He is the great grandson of Frederick Shepherd who founded what became the Shepherd Group in 1890. His Father Donald Shepherd was the inventor of the Portakabin concept. His career was spent in manufacturing and commercial roles in Portasilo and Portakabin where he became Chief Executive in 1996 until 2003. From 2003 to 2008 he was Chief Executive of the Groups construction and engineering divisions, finally retiring from the Group as Deputy Chairman in April 2017.
Patrick became a regional councillor of the CBI in 1994 and was Regional Chairman in 2001/2. He is a Trustee of the Patricia and Donald Shepherd Charitable Trust. He was chairman of York Against Cancer from 2002 until 2013 and continues as a Trustee. He was on the board of Venturefest Yorkshire for 10 years until 2014 and is a member of the Court of the University of York. He received an OBE in 2015 for services to business and Charity in York.
He lives in York, is married to Chris and has two grown up sons.
