On the morning of Friday 11 January, a small happy crowd gathered in the middle of Clifton Bridge to welcome a plaque replacing the original plaque destroyed by vandalism. The bridge was opened in 1963 by Alderman Archibald Kirk and the party included three generations of his family, including his great-great-grandaughter Nancy, who may not recall the ceremony but will be always reminded of it by her relations! Also present were Councillors Wells and Myers and Graham Frater from York Civic Trust.
