The Trust has completed high-quality repairs to one of the gas lanterns in St Helen’s Square. This work follows suspected impact damage from a passing vehicle which bent the ironwork and smashed a number of glass panes in the lantern.
The lantern is at the south-end of the square, and is close to the Mansion House and The Ivy Restaurant. It had only recently been restored as part of wider improvements in the square that the Trust carried out in late 2017 as part of the our City Enhancement Programme. That work was financed by The York Business Improvement District.
This month’s repair works were carried out by Dave Barnes of Barnzforge and to a very fine standard.
