York Civic Trust has organised the restoration of the badly damaged and corroded gates, created by the famous Walker Iron Foundry, which used to lead to the playing fields of Archbishop Holgate’s grammar school.  This was in collaboration with York Hospital Trust, on whose land the gates now are located.  Both Trusts were represented at the celebration of the restoration on 2 May 2017, and a group of Old Boys of the school witnessed the opening.

For more information on the restoration of the gates, see here.
