Starting point: Holy Redeemer Church Hall
A guided walk along Boroughbridge Road uncovering stories of Acomb Park, Roman and Iron Age discoveries, and the mystery of Acomb Manor, with post-walk discussion and heritage input.
Our Place Walkshop – Carr Estate
26 March | 1pm–3pm
Starting point: Lidgett Grove Methodist Church
Join us to explore the history and heritage of The Carr Estate, Acomb. We’ll meet at Lidgett Grove Methodist Church for a short introduction, then go out on a 1-hour walk around The Carr, highlighting some of the historic people and places. These range from prefab houses fit for a princess to the inspiring charity work of Lady Ellen Granger, and from Roman roads to medieval fishponds.
