Visit and tour York’s striking Magistrates’ Court, purpose-built and opened on Clifford Street to great acclaim in 1892. Led by magistrate and Trust volunteer Margaret Scott, admire the grand court rooms and inspect the less grand “retiring rooms” and behind-the-scenes spaces. Hear something of how the courts have worked in the past and how they have adapted to the twenty first century.
Note: there are steps and no lifts, and there may be some security measures. Court staff will open the front doors at 6pm, so please be prompt.
Meet outside the main entrance, Clifford Street
