Sheldon/Rowntrees Society Seebohm Rowntree lecture

SEEBOHM ROWNTREE RECONSIDERED

The Sheldon Memorial Trust and the Rowntree Society are organising this event as part of the York Festival of Ideas. It will comprise of two talks of about thirty minutes each, to be given by Professors Jonathan Bradshaw and Bill Sheils.

Seebohm was a major figure locally, nationally and internationally, chiefly through his work on poverty but also in other areas of social action and concern. The session will examine the context of Seebohm’s work in the early twentieth century and consider its importance and relevance in today’s world.

The event (which is free) will be held in the Ron Cooke Hub (The Lakehouse) on the University’s East Campus. The 66 and 66A buses stop near the Hub.
