Support us: Lord Mayor's Charities 2016-2017

York Civic Trust is delighted to be one of the four organisations in York chosen to benefit from the 2016-2017 Lord Mayor's Charities. The Rt Hon Lord Mayor, Councillor Dave Taylor, is a longstanding member of the Trust. We are delighted to support all events which are part of this plan.

The last fundraising event of Dave's Mayoralty takes place in the third floor roof garden of the Hiscox office building, Peaseholme Green, and is about urban honeybees!  On Wednesday 24 May, at 7pm (till about 8.45) hear from Andrew Cutts of URBAN BUZZ who will reveal the success of the first year of the bee project.  He is supported by Ruth Horlock of Hiscox, who looks after some 120,000 bees housed in hives at the top of the Hiscox office block.  There will be music from the jazz quartet Sax Forte and the £16 ticket includes a glass of wine/beer.soft drink and some excellent canapés.  The event is organised by green charity St Nicks but all are welcome and the funds will help all four charities.  For more information and tickets see the St Nick's website:

At Heritage weekend (10-11 September 2016) Trust members had fun offering a series of walks to York residents and visitors to our city, "Get to know your York". At least 600 people took part and we raised money for the Lord Mayor's fund.  We plan to repeat this on 23 and 24 June 2017.......
