This year Darrell Buttery concentrates on North Street and Skeldergate in his ‘famous people’ walking tours. Whilst backwaters now and little visited, this has not always been the case. With access to the river both streets saw much activity in earlier centuries and some grand houses were built, including John Carr’s own.
Some good buildings still survive but much was demolished after the war. However, not surprisingly some famous names are associated with this area and the church of All Saints, North Street, is one of the finest in the city.
Meet in All Saints Church, North Street.
