Tuesday 11 September (2.15pm – 4.00pm) at King’s Manor
Though many of the famous buildings that we are familiar with in York are made of stone, this tour will look at a range of prominent and important buildings where brick has been used in all or part of the construction.
This tour will end with York’s only brick tower – The Red Tower at the end of a stretch of the city walls on Foss Islands Road. We’ll be looking at a range of buildings – houses, places of learning, a chapel, offices, a hotel, major and much smaller properties. We’ll also be taking in quite a lot of York’s topographic history as well. Tea and coffee will be available at Red Tower!
