York Minster’s Great East Window is the largest expanse of medieval stained glass in the country, a masterpiece in glass and stone depicting the beginning and end of all things.

In June, for the first time in a decade, the restored window was finally complete.

The Great East Window of York Minster tells the story of Time: from the Creation, Genesis, at the top, to the end of time.

After its long period of restoration and conservation, the outstanding artistry of the Great East Window has been revealed in the now corrected sequencing of major panels. Sarah Brown, who is York University’s international expert on stained glass, has overseen the project and, in this talk she will share with us some of the ground-breaking research which has accompanied this project.
